Why I doubt McCain will be our nominee
by John F. Allen
Well let’s see, the Democrats will end up with either the most hated presidential candidate in American history. That is not merely a Freeper’s opinion but the indication to be gleaned from a series of polls asking “Would you vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstances?” which revealed that between 45 and 52% say “No”. Now of course we have not heard this question asked recently and we are not likely to hear it asked anytime soon. Why? Because if Zogby of Rasmussen or Gallup or Pew asked the question they would have to reveal the answer. None of these firms wants to kill the “excitement” of a presidential race even if it doesn’t actually exist. No one, not even a Clinton can give up 45% BEFORE day one and win.
Now the other likely Democratic nominee is a man who will, because of the truth that in politics perception is reality, be seen as a Black Muslim. Both are deeply socialist. America will not elect either one. Moreover, the push poll efforts to resurrect the 11% approval ratings for the Democrat controlled Congress will never be able to push it up to even 30%. The GOP lost the congress with a 36% approval rating. Americans are not as stupid as the media wishes they were. The Democrats will be blamed for the economic problems. Republican candidates will fill the air with graphics showing the economic numbers before the Democrats and after the Democrats took over.
This is NOT to say we will retake the House or the Senate. It is to say the presidency is ours to lose and that there is virtually no chance the Democrats will pick up seats in the House. They may lose just a few but picking up seating is not in the cards. People get angry in bad economic times and they vote accordingly. If Pelosi was unable to do anything with the margin she has now, she will be able to do nothing with fewer members. I have no idea how the senate races will turn out save to say we will win Landrieu’s seat and hold Coleman’s. The indications are then that Nancy Pelosi will end up as the most inept Speaker in memory and will be a four year lame duck if some other Democrat doesn’t save her from this fate and take the job she will willingly give up for “health and family” reasons. Harry Reid will not be the Senate Leader this time next year. He has been so ineffective and so vulnerable to investigation that it is impossible to see how the rest of his caucus lets him remain in that position.
McCain is a long way from the nomination. Let’s have faith that the grassroots Republicans that stopped Miers and amnesty and got rid of Martinez will step up and stop him. I believe we will.
