Truth is the Best Antidote for Falling Poll Numbers: Obama doesn’t understand this

By Fritz Wenzel

In the latest Wenzel Strategies poll, just 36% of American likely voters said they think the country is headed on the right direction. This is down from a significant majority who said the same thing early last year. But that’s not really news, since every poll number associated with President Obama has plummeted over the past 13 months, starting almost immediately after he took office.

Part of this is reflective of the times – the economic doldrums continue unabated. Part of this is a natural outgrowth of the way in which Obama campaigned for the presidency in 2008, and the way in which the national news media covered him. Seldom did reporters on the campaign trail demand specifics about Obama or his policy proposals, and he offered them even less often.

In the end, we always find out what our Presidents really believe, as they roll out their agenda in Washington. It turns out the country doesn’t like Obama the President anywhere near as much as they liked Obama the candidate. The terrible “right direction/wrong track” poll numbers demonstrate that.

This week, President Obama marked the first anniversary of his stimulus bill by claiming it has saved or produced two million jobs. The claim came after several reports that other Obama Administration declarations of jobs saved or created by the stimulus bill were wildly exaggerated.

Here’s the problem. When your poll numbers are in the basement, it is a clear indication that voters don’t trust you. The correct reaction is to hew closer to the truth, not veer farther from it. American voters decide what is truthful by comparing a political leader’s statements with what they see around them in everyday life, and there is little evidence for Obama’s job claims here in the real world.

Using polling to stop a fall

Falling poll numbers are always difficult to repair. And the repair process is usually very expensive – in terms of time, money, or both. In the political realm, President Clinton was probably the most successful in the modern era at recovering from a plummet he took in his first two years in office. He spent a great deal of time and treasure remaking his image, largely with the wise guiding counsel of strategist Dick Morris. He first did extensive polling to determine what the American public was thinking, and then he moved toward them.

Not only is Obama not moving to where the American people are philosophically, his public statements give the distinct impression that he does not understand the real reasons Americans are so against his proposals. After Republican Scott Brown campaigned against Obama’s health care reform bill and won the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts, Obama said he thought the Brown victory occurred because his administration had not done a good job of getting its “message” out. The reality was exactly the opposite.
Using truth to rebound

In another realm, Tiger Woods this week is to go public with an apology for his wild private life. The apology will work wonders for him, and he will be back on the PGA Tour again soon. His reputation will always carry a scar, but he will make a nice recovery – because he will finally deal with this issue very publicly and very directly. He will be honest with the American people, who rightly feel betrayed. Americans love to forgive their public figures – but they have to honestly seek forgiveness first.

This is a lesson Obama has apparently not yet learned. Instead, he is treating the American public much the way the prototypical Ugly American deals with nationals while traveling in a foreign country: if he finds they don’t understand English, he just speaks louder.

What did you do to be worthy of your American freedoms yesterday? What will you do today and what do you plan to do tomorrow?

Ex con Muslim Chaplin caught smuggling box-cutters into jail: Why trying KSM in NYC is dangerous

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

Yesterday’s news that Barack Obama still intends to bring the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) and other vicious Islamists to New York makes this little story an important story.

Last week New York’s Corrections Department reported apprehending and arresting an officially credentialed Muslim Chaplin, who uses the name Zulqarnain Abdu-Shahid, as he was attempting to smuggle a pair of scissors and three box cutter blades into its main facility in lower Manhattan.

Had it not been for the sharp eyed professionalism of the Corrections Officers at the Manhattan Detention Complex, these dangerous weapons would have found their way into the hands of some of the worst of his “flock” threatening our liberties and freedoms.

A problem bigger than just one low life Imam

The bigger problem this incident underscores is that this “cleric” Abdu-Shahid is an ex con who has a record of having spent fourteen years of a fifteen to life sentence in prison. He was convicted for second degree murder and first degree robbery in 1979.

Why he was released after just fourteen years and why he was eventually hired at almost $50,000 a year as a prison Chaplin are unanswered questions.

Proving she can miss a point as well as any bureaucrat, City Department of Investigations Commissioner Rose Gil Hearn commented, “This arrest demonstrates the serious consequences of bringing in contraband to the city’s correctional facilities.”
No Ms. Gil Hearn this arrest demonstrates the serious consequences of the loony politically correct policy of hiring a guy who did fourteen years in prison as a Chaplin with private visitation rights to vicious criminals bent on destroying our country.

Umar Abdul-Jalil, Abdu-Shahid’s boss did 14 years in prison as a convicted drug dealer. Does anyone believe HE will stop such smuggling if KSM comes to town?

The “Chaplin” problem

The Muslim “Chaplin” situation is one of the lesser recognized “holes” in the system that will be charged with protecting us from KSM and his fellow Islamist terrorists should they be brought to Manhattan for trial. Trying to stop every single one of these bogus “Chaplins” will be like juggling fire axes for the already overburdened Corrections Officers.

Bringing this trial to the streets of the very city these swine tried to destroy is an ugly affront to all Americans and most particularly the people of New York City who directly suffered some much from their 911 sneak attacks.

Contact your Congressional Representative or Senator and make it clear that you don’t want these kinds of trials brought to American soil. They belong in military tribunals whether the Marxists in Obama’s Administration understand it or not.

A one term president? Forget it! Obama was a ONE year president so Bayh and others are jumping

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

Democrats are in full panic mode.

Evan Bayh won’t be the last to jump and run. They’ll throw Barack Obama overboard trying to save their reelection chances, so forget about him being a one term president, Obama was a one year president.

Bayh is gasoline splashed on the smoldering coals of Obama’s faux presidency. It will ignite a consuming roaring fire that will burn Obama and his Party beyond recognition.

Losing everywhere

Recently New York Republicans won a special Assembly election in a 2 to 1 Democrat district. In Rhode Island Patrick Kennedy has been chased out. In Massachusetts a Republican won the “Kennedy seat” and another Democrat is about to quit. Obama is toxic and putting everything up for grabs this year.

This make believe presidency never really had a chance because it was built on lies told by people who knew they were lying to people who were either too stupid or too “thrilled” to demand answers about a man nobody knew a thing about. Obama’s puppet masters proved they knew how to get an empty suit elected, but don’t know the first thing to tell their puppet about actually running a country.
Having never held an actual job he brought no experience except voting “present” to the most important job in the world. Obama never was anything more than “Chance The Gardener” Peter Seller’s character in “Being There” the 1979 movie flaying the political world. Chance was an affable but mentally challenged man who was discovered and promoted by powerful political king makers. They were impressed by his ability to speak and seemly make sense although he was a babbling idiot.

The Democrats’ problem and America’s problem is that “Chance” is now the president but things will only get better for America and worse for Democrats.

Instrumental leadership; Administrative leadership

Instrumental leaders lead the charge up the hill and take the fort. Administrative leaders manage the everyday workings of the “fort” after it has been taken.

George Washington was that rare leader who was both an Instrumental leader and an Administrative leader. They don’t come around very often. Newt Gingrich was a great Instrumental leader but a failure as an Administrative leader.

Obama has surrounded himself with excellent Instrumental leaders. They were able to find dozens of Democrats willing to lie about being conservative in order to get elected in conservative congressional districts, but now “their chickens are coming home to roost” as Rev Wright would screech.

Black History Month C. B. C style: spend “charity donations” on galas, golf outings, casino trips

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

If the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) knows anything it’s how to raise money. They raise money better than anybody. Two years ago in the flush air of taking control of the Congress and the coming election of the nation’s first Black president, the CBC decided to pay off the mortgage on its Embassy Row Washington DC headquarters. They put the arm on some regular corporate contributors such as AT&T, General Motors Coca-Cola Wal-Mart and Altria the country’s biggest tobacco company.

In short order $4 million was raised and the building was free and clear.

Of course political groups, especially Congressional groups, are barred by law from accepting such direct “donations” from corporations and labor unions, but this is the CBC so it’s allowed. The CBC exemption is probably written somewhere on the back of the Constitution.

Spend the money on charity? Don’t be silly

On paper the CBC gets away with abusing the laws saving the nation from what McCain and Feingold see as the “corrupting influences of money” by washing its cash through a series of “non profit charities.” From 2004 to 2008 these “charities” pulled down $55 million which was mostly “donated” by corporations and unions.

One of the favorite cover stories for raising this huge amount of cash is that it’s going to provide “scholarships” for disadvantaged Black students. Nevertheless, the New York Times reports, “.. the bulk of the money has been spent on elaborate conventions …, golf outings by members … and an annual visit to a Mississippi casino resort.” The “Paper of Record” continued with, “In 2008, [the CBC] Foundation spent more on the caterer for its signature legislative dinner and conference — nearly $700,000 for an event one organizer called “Hollywood on the Potomac” — than it gave out in scholarships[according to federal tax records].”

Keep this in mind

Keep this in mind when you read about CBC member Representative Charlie Rangel a known admitted and unpunished tax cheat getting ready to raise your taxes as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

When the “concerned” CBC asks for your money to “help” the people of Haiti remember their track record for distributing contributions to actual “charities.”

This CBC has no shame. They are selfish people who understand they will never be voted out of office. All we can do to slow them down is vote conservative in November so the CBC and other like groups lose their power.

Unions or our economy; only one can survive: it’s time for “lifeboat” ethics

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

January’s Department of Labor report brought bad news for Big Labor and good news for America. Private sector unions lost approximately 843,000 members last year and now make up just 7.2% of America’s work force.

This is a sharp drop from the early 1950’s level of 36% but what is more important is that today almost the same number (37.4%) of public sector workers are unionized. The union message is failing and workers with a choice don’t want unionization. Only government workers who have no choice are unionized in large numbers. This offers the possibility our nation can be saved from the Marxists strangling the life out of our economy.
The job of private sector unions is squeezing every last benefit they can from the companies who employ their members. This might sound fair and admirable, but in actual practice it has led to disastrous results for dozens of companies and several whole industries at the expense of millions of jobs.

In our current “bizzaro” world of Barack Obama’s Administration, we have an “Animal Farm” like condition where the Auto Workers’ Unions own part of the companies they “work” for. Like that “Hope and Change” gibberish this hasn’t worked out so well. General Motors and Chrysler which were once on top of Fortune’s 500 List are bankrupt and suffering withdrawal pains from the Obama/Unions fraudulent “Cash for Clunkers” swindle.

An either or situation

Unions will NEVER relax union rules and union rules are steadily killing private companies. Unions are a cancer that must be removed from our economy by the next Congress in order for us to have a chance to survive the damage this bunch from Chicago has done. It’s down to a clear choice: unions or America’s economy. Elect conservatives who will know which to choose.

Where stimulus money went

In spite of empirical evidence that governments consume wealth and never produce any, hundreds of billions of dollars of the so called “Stimulus” package we HAD to have went to governments to help them keep paying their unionized workers.

Those 7 million plus lost jobs you’ve read about have come out of private company payrolls. In contrast governments have increased their collective workforce by 10,000 new hires a month, many in the federal government.

According to Michael Barone, “.. the percentage of federal employees earning over $100,000 has jumped to 19 percent during the recession.”

His comments also included pointing out that non-union manufacturing employment has climbed since 1973 by 2 million workers and during the same period union manufacturing employment has fallen by the same 2 million.

Federal laws protect workers from unsafe workplaces, discrimination of all kinds and payroll and pension failures during corporate bankruptcies, so the time is right to finish off the parasitical unions before they kill our economy. The king really has no new suit of clothes and we’ve got to face it.

Parliamentary Landscape with a Presidential System

By Bruce Karlson

The Founders of our Republic did a truly amazing job in the creation of the Constitution. They anticipated the pitfalls of an overly strong central government and those of a nation without a resilient central government.

James Madison, writing as “Publius” in Federalist #10: “The federal Constitution forms a happy combination in this respect; the great and aggregate interests being referred to the national, the local and particular to the State legislatures.” He obviously did not anticipate the never ending debasement of the Tenth Amendment, but was fully aware of the danger of “factions” (political parties, etc.) and their ability to suborn the common interest to particular interests. He accepted the fact that men would form factions but was convinced that the power delegation between federal and state would alleviate the danger.

He expected “interests” (special interests, in today’s jargon) to form and attempt to use the federal government in support, but believed that these attempts would fail. Events have made it clear he was half right.

George Washington was also clear in his 1796 Farewell Address, regarding “factions”: “Liberty … is, indeed, little else than a name, where the government is too feeble to withstand the enterprises of faction … and to maintain all in the secure and tranquil enjoyments of the rights of person and property.”

“One of the expedients of party to acquire influence…is to misrepresent the opinions and aims of other[s]. You cannot shield yourselves too much against the jealousies and heart burnings which spring from these misrepresentations; they tend to render alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal affection.”

The net of this is simple: Our Constitution, with its presidential system, was designed to work without national party influence, making representatives of particular constituents unable to reward their “interests” with Federal largesse. Twelve trillion in debt indicates abject failure.

Washington’s prescient analysis of the dangers of political parties should give pause. Both he and Madison were correct and built in the Constitutional strictures by which we could have avoided the disgraceful abuses by the Federal government currently on display.

At this unhappy place, a parliamentary system with its “factions” in which the government rises and falls as one, might be more appropriate but…we do not have one. We must deal with the mess we made with the tools at hand. Adherence to the plain language of the Constitution would resolve it. That of course is beyond hope.

Political parties are here to stay but there is hope that the obnoxious and dangerous growth of corrupt and corrupting government can be contained and/or reversed. The nation is becoming a house divided which, according to Dishonest Abe Lincoln cannot stand. The Constitution as it is currently construed cannot help. Libertarians, Tea Partiers, and other patriots see the approaching wreck and are laboring to avoid it.
The salient question: Will they succeed?? If they do not, we do not.

What did you do to be worthy of your American freedoms yesterday? What will you do today and what do you plan to do tomorrow?

TEA Party’s Black patriot Lloyd Marcus: “Black History month white people and America suck month”

By Suzanne Eovaldi

Black History Month really is the liberal democrats’ annual fundraiser to hit up guilt ridden whites for more entitlements says Lloyd Marcus, an unabashed and unhyphenated America lover. He condemns what he calls “white people and America suck month.”
Marcus, a conservative patriot who sang at the 9/12 rally in D.C, so loves his cause he has brought out an American Tea Party CD featuring such great songs as “Our Wonderful Country,” “American Tea Party Anthem,” and his pro life song based on a true story, “Hello Mom It’s Me.”

Marcus says every February our liberal media and many democrats “gleefully bring up all of America’s past sins.” Admitting that yes, abuses are part of history, he calls out the race exploiters for refusing to highlight how far current race relations have come. “American blacks have achieved amazing things under extraordinary circumstances, most of which could not have happened without assistance of good decent God fearing whites.”

The story of George Washington Carver who at age 12 witnessed the hanging of another black male emphasizes what Marcus sees as liberals continuing to accentuate the negative, eliminate the positive in our race relations. Carver was led to greatness by a white family and a white teacher who set him on the path of becoming a world famous scientist and humanitarian. Another favorite theme of Marcus has to do with words of Madam C. J. Walker who overcame desperate odds to become an American millionaire. “Be willing to work hard,” was her standard.

The media bombard us each February with specials depicting “whitey as bad,” to show the persecution of blacks. Totally ignored, says Marcus, are the efforts of “white blood, sweat, and tears shed for blacks.”

America will never be let “off the hook” as long as race exploiters mine this very profitable industry for corporate shakedowns, educationally free passing grades, and endless exchanges of entitlements for votes by liberal Democrat politicians.

I’ll never forget the punch in the gut experience I felt when a friend of a friend called me a racist simply because I told her I vote Republican in response to her question about my party affiliation. When I flunked a black student, some time later someone put an M80 on the coach light in front of my house near Chicago. Luckily, it was an electric light, and no one was hurt. Were the flunked grade and blown light connected? Who knows? The police wouldn’t investigate. But both of these incidents were enough to force my withdrawal from interchange with members of the opposite minority.

Different Shades of Truth: a professional explains what’s behind the headlines of a polling Story

By Fritz Wenzel

For months now there have been many national polls released that showed growing disapproval of the various health care reform proposals circulating in the halls of Congress. Still, in the face of increasing dissatisfaction, congressional Democrats unwisely pushed forward.

Republicans have made major gains in the minds of the public because of the Democratic missteps.

Sampling to fit a template

Now comes a new ABC/Washington Post poll this week that shows that maybe health care reform may not be so widely hated after all. It says 58% want a bi–partisan health reform bill passed.
What? Less than a month ago Americans hated health care reform by a two–to–one margin.

Polls like this make voters scratch their heads, while us industry insiders simply shake ours – because it is easy to see the poll has serious problems.

The most obvious is the sample by partisan affiliation. The sample includes 32% Democrats, 26% Republicans, and 39% independents. This is so far off from the actual partisan make–up of the country as to render the poll findings largely meaningless.

There is no way Democrats enjoy a 6 percentage point edge over Republicans right now, and worse, there is no way 39% are independents. Of course Democrats want a bi–partisan health care reform because they want to be able to share the blame with the GOP when things go sour. And independents are well–known to favor anything that includes the phrase “bi–partisan.” No wonder they found 58% want a bi–partisan health bill!
The poll analysis says it shows Democrats now “have potential pushback” on the issue. The truth is public sentiment has not recently changed on the issue, and any Washington politician who relies on this poll data deserves the hearty political beating that will certainly follow.

Making it “fit” or doing it right

The new ABC/Washington Post poll offers a teachable moment to explain that there are at least two schools of thought on how to deal with partisan affiliation in calculating polling data. Some simply take the sample they get and make no adjustments to make sure the sample includes the proper proportion of Democrats to Republicans to Independents. The television network pollsters don’t apply party affiliation “weights” to their sample to make them conform to the make–up of the country. Neither does Gallup. But Zogby does. And Rasmussen does. At Wenzel Strategies we too.

Those of us who do apply weights do so because we believe when you measure national politics, or state politics, or local politics, your political affiliation should reflect the make–up of the target group you are trying to measure. This is why we also pay close attention to question order and format, so that as closely as possible we mimic the language that would appear on the ballot in an election.

I have never understood the arguments of those who don’t make adjustments to their sample for political affiliation. Their arguments just don’t make sense to me.

Time proves who is right

One thing I do understand is that, in the last 25 years of national political polling, there have been no more accurate firms than Zogby and Rasmussen, and that’s why my practices at Wenzel Strategies are modeled after those industry leaders. And that’s why you should pay attention to such things, too, because sometimes there are several different shades of truth when it comes to public opinion research of political issues.

Scorned! N J Gay activists realize they’ve been played for suckers by Dems vote to stop donations

By Kevin “Coach” Collins

New Jersey’s biggest Gay rights organization has voted unanimously to stop contributing to ALL political parties. Since Lincoln was probably the last Republican any Gay organization contributed to, the effect of this lavender revolt is to shut off the money flow to Democrats. This is a stunning and serious turn of events because the Homosexual Community is not about to back away from.

Fooled once too often

For several years Democrats have made promises to Homosexuals vowing they would fix everything from Gay Marriage to adoption and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

In state after state, where referenda have been held to either approve or disapprove Gay Marriage, Democrats and Gays have gone zero for thirty one. Not one state, not even the very Blue state of Maine has affirmed Gay marriage as a “right.”
Now in both deep Blue New York and deep Blue New Jersey the rainbow wedding dresses have been packed away again because Gay marriage was defeated in both state’s Democrat controlled Senates.

Stung at this kick in the pants over Gay marriage by New Jersey’s Senate, Garden State Equity’s (GSE) board of Directors has promised to cut off local Democrats.

The organization’s board was so angry at this latest Democrat slight it unanimously voted to insert the prohibition against political contributions into its official bylaws.

A GSE representative sets the amount his members have given New Jersey Democrats just since 2005 at $5000, 000.

Worse than it looks

This step hits the New Jersey Democrats at a time when they can least afford to lose any contributors, let alone those who give time and labor to their campaigns the way homosexuals traditionally do.

Asked if this step is a broadside at the Democrat Party, GSE spokesman Steven Goldstein shot back: “Of course it is.”
Democrats talking to Homosexuals out of both sides of their mouths

The Democrats under Bill Clinton passed of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which declared marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

Democrats have consistently failed to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which would have enabled Gays to force the Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts to hire them.
Now Gays are being asked to trust the Democrats on Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and they have given every indication they have run out of patients and gullibility. This Gay revolt can and will spread to other states, and that has to be keeping Democrats up at night.

What did you do to defend American freedoms yesterday? What will you do today and what do you plan to do tomorrow?
