Exclusive New Wenzel Strategies/Collins Report poll: conservative identification now up to 46%!
By Kevin “Coach” Collins
Forty six percent of Likely voters call themselves conservative!
Obama’s lies are driving America to the right.
This is devastating news for Democrats across the country.
In a randomly selected sample of 747 respondents, surveyed by Wenzel Strategies, an all time high of 46% of Americans self-identified as conservatives. With merely 21% self- identifying as liberal this spells big trouble for Barack Obama and the Democrat Party in November.
This 46% level of self described conservatives is in line with, but goes well above, results reported in other surveys. It clearly shows conservatism is on the march and continuing to grow.
Americans, especially Independents, don’t believe Obama
The new data also strongly indicates Americans don’t believe what Barack Obama and his team are telling them. Although Obama is still largely believed by the usually predictable groups, the lack of confidence in government reports cuts across many strata.
There were five choices respondents could select to describe their level of belief in Obama’s announcements: very reliable; somewhat reliable ;not very reliable; not at all reliable and not sure. For brevity the first two will be considered “not believable” and “believable.”
The survey showed over 52% of Americans don’t believe Obama, but 70% of Democrats do and 70% of Republicans don’t.
The report held another bit of bad news for Obama and his Party: by an almost 2 to 1 ratio at 63% “no” to just 33% “yes” Independents don’t believe Obama.
Liberal and Obama voter erosion
Self described liberals believe Obama at a 79% rate, but only 28% of conservatives and 33% of Independents believe him. Obama has seen an erosion of faith and belief among his own voters as just 66% still believe him.
Only 62% of Blacks and 50% of Hispanics believe Obama, but Whites don’t believe him by 58/40.
Questionable levels of engagement
Also significant as an indicator of engagement in America’s public life were the percentages of people who had no opinion when sorted out by race.
Those percentages were as follows: Blacks 7.4% were “not sure” about the truthfulness of Obama’s unemployment and other economic reports. Hispanics reported “not sure” to this question at an 8.3% but Whites answered “not sure” just 1.9%.
This level of disengagement among minorities has spelled trouble for Democrats in Massachusetts Virginia and New Jersey and will likely mean still more trouble for Obama’s Party in November.
The survey was of 747 Likely voters was conducted Feb. 18–20, 2010 and has a margin of error +/– 3.56 percentage points.
